Physio Chennai
welcome

1. What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy includes exercises, education, manual joint mobilizations, manipulations, massage, electrical modalities and other therapeutic techniques that are specifically employed by physiotherapists in the treatment of orthopedic, neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory problems.
"Active physiotherapy" means the use of exercises as a treatment. We consider it the most effective and fastest way to get better, though we believe that electrical modalities combined with therapeutic massage and manual therapy are also useful in the management of most problems. We have Pilates facilities that allow us to perform and teach a wide range of exercises.

2. What can Physiotherapy help?
Physiotherapists are trained in the treatment of:
Musculoskeletal problems:
i.e. sprains, fractures, joint replacements, spinal pain, sports and occupational injuries, etc.
We deal with injuries affecting joint function, posture, and normal muscle balance ranging from the very acute to chronic. We treat clients from childhood to geriatric.

3. What does a Physiotherapy Appointment involve?
An appointment with a physiotherapist will involve taking a relevant clinical history. The injured area is assessed as well as other areas that may be contributing to the problem. You are then informed of the results of the assessment and a suitable treatment program is devised. Treatment programs are individualized and evolve based on your needs and stage of recovery. Treatment may encompass modalities, i.e. ultrasound, interferential current, "hands on" treatment, specific exercises, or simply advice on how to manage the problem.

4. Is treatment covered under Medicare?
Physiotherapy is not covered under Medicare. However, many people have cover through their “extras” cover health care benefits package. Check your benefits policy. There also may be cover under work cover or transport accident insurance.

5. Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, you do not need a doctor's referral to access a physiotherapist at our clinic. However, TAC, Work Cover or DVA clients who would like to be bulk billed require a referral from their Doctor.
